Future Mommy
She lifts him up,
his joyfully bouncing arms
only slightly smaller
than her own,
and holds him close.
He melts into the crook
of her neck
feeling just as at home
in her arms,
as in the arms
of his own family.
True,
he’s an easy baby,
but she is also an easy
mother
without ever having
given birth.
She holds him instinctively,
fingertips lightly grazing
his head,
brushing his cheeks,
and eliciting delighted
giggles.
She is beaming.
Her smile
lights up the room,
as I stand in awe of her beauty.
