and that much I believe is true.

But when you left forever,

going where there might be hope.

Trying hard to find a job,

anything but selling dope.

 

There’s so much that stands against you:

your father and sister, too.

Desperation in your heart,

you knew not what to do.

 

You said you couldn’t take it,

could handle it no more.

Life was hard to bear,

and you considered it a chore.

 

Dawn and dusk have come and gone

and neither eased the strife.

You said there was nothing left to do,

but to give up and take your life.
