Goodbye
A cry for help is what you read.
I’m trying to tell you what I need.
I need a friend, and that you’ve been.
I know you’ll see me to the end.
I need a home and a family –
someone who’ll always be there for me.
This is something I will not get –
not me, not ever, with much regret.
School is not a place where you should be afraid,
where there are bombs and police raids.
It should be a home where one feels safe,
but I know no safety in this place.
Life’s long path has taken a turn.
Take your own life and in Hell you’ll burn.
You’ll leave your friends high and dry
to answer the questions, “Why did she die?
Why didn’t she fight and try a bit more?”
“Goodbye” is all she said as she walked through the door.
“Goodbye to the hurt and the pain of my past.
Goodbye to you all. I’ll be free at last.
Goodbye to the loss and the hate that was cast.
Goodbye to you all. I’ll be free at last.
Forgive me, please, for I know not why –
why I have chosen just to die.
To leave you behind to pick up to parts -
leave you to mend all the broken hearts.
You’ve always been there for me when push came to shove.
Thank you for giving so much of your love.
I know. I’m sorry (I’ve betrayed your trust).
You don’t understand, but, you see, you must.
Forgive me please, and if your heart is brave,
leave a pink rose on the top of my grave”.
