polychromatic eyes

thoughts of you

tickle the length

of my spine

brushing past my brain

dandelion fuzz

floating

softly along

my cheek

falling

to the center

of my pelvis

warmth

settling there like

the quieted dust

of Michigan

after a welcome rain

every sight of you

awakens me

with every stare

polychromatic eyes

burn into my soul

stirring emotions

i thought were

mute

i attempt to brush

past feelings for you

as though walking

through a field

of flowers

hands outstretched

fingertips

touching

grazing

but never

grasping

petals

experiencing you

peripherally

you rise like the sun

shadowing all others

eclipsing the moon

shaming the stars

flipping my switch

instantaneously

your breath

burns my neck

from across the way

as I imagine you

nestled there

a permanent fixture

home

in my arms
